Amai is the kind of person who bases her personality on the people she’s around and how she wants them to perceive her. Around strangers, she's quiet and distant, always friendly but never warm. She never reveals more about herself than she wants to, and will dodge questions like her life depends on it. Even when it seems like she's opening up, more often than not, it's just her adjusting her behavior based on what she knows about the other person. She would rather die than be vulnerable around another human person.

In her mind, perfection is the ultimate goal to aim for - whether that's being the perfect daughter, the perfect idol, or the perfect friend. Don't get it wrong, she's very aware that "perfection" is very subjective! She's just... decided that instead of accepting that it's impossible to please everyone, it's more effective to completely overhaul her personality when needed to better suit her "audience".

After some character development, Amai does eventually grow more comfortable just being himself around his friends. It takes a while of figuring out what it means to be "himself", but he gets there! Eventually!
